Purple Dreams

Purple is as blue as red shines the fire in you….

 

I’ve been dreaming purple of late, colorful dreams, and recollections that have inspired my post today. In my garden right now, I have regular english lavender growing, and French lavender as well. It’s doing considerably well considering the humidity of this region. But the flowers are absolutely adorable. The bees flock to the purple flowers, and the scent of the lavender when crushed is like a misty shower in the forest sun; fresh, alive and awakening.

On the front page of etsy this afternoon, a treasury of purple inspired handmade items spurred my inhibitions to do a little more searching and the end result was glorious. Downright quaint in its own right, purple is a color of mystery, knowledge, and hope. This can be seen in the picks I have chosen .

Kings Queens and all that’s in between ….

I have to admit, recently we changed our television viewing from Comcast Cable, to Direct TV, and I am glad we did. I was somewhat worried about storms and satellite coverage, but alas the spring rains have no where been as normal as in recent years. One of the most interesting and entertaining shows I have become addicted to “The Tudors” on the Starz network. Being quite a history buff, I love what my husband coins “sword” movies not for the blood, gore, and sword yielding reign of terror throughout the 1400-1500’s, but for the realism in the way in which society held the laws of the land, civilized or not. And, of course with modern day entertainment, the producers choose attractive actors to play the parts of the Monarchy, the courts, and the law makers. I am almost certain however, based on historical artistic impressions of the kings, and queens, ladies in waiting, and close aides to the monarchy were probably not as charming as television would have us believe. But, humanity is still humanity, and the pride does come before the fall, with the seduction of the human body, soul, mind, and of course the power that goes with monarchical duties.

I am three seasons behind in the series, so I will probably have to catch up on netflix for seasons one, two and three, but thank goodness for netflix and the progression of history over hours, rather than years in Hollywood.

What a charming family!

But of course, I will not deny myself today of featuring some adorable vintage elizabethan wares from etsy, and I bode you well in your afternoon duties!

How is everyone doing today?

Here in the South, it looks as if we are about to get a downpour of torrential type rains, but either way, whether we do or not, I will be ready for them that's for sure. Over the weekend, I managed to broadcast some seeds in my beds for the summer and end of spring flowering season, and even if the perennials do not come up as strong this year, they will look marvelous next season! And, speaking of looking marvelous, I have put together a cute outfit today for the evening out, or even for getting out and about in.

I found an adorable pair of vintage levi jeans that have bell bottoms, and will go perfect with a t-shirt, clutch, slip-on shoe/sneaker and some earings and necklace to boot it all together. The jeans are adorable and can be found at OnceownedTwiceloved on etsy. I found them earlier this morning, and so happened to find out that the vintage seller lives just a stone’s throw away! I used a pair of Roxy 'Brisas' Shoe, simply because they look natural, and offset the outfit perfectly. Anyway here is the collection, all is for sale on etsy, and at Roxy.com, and can be ready to wear now.

For this afternoon, I will be heading off to work some, but tomorrow I will be posting some shop help on photography for selling online. Having great photo's online is one of the most important aspects of selling to a prospective buyer. The buyer cannot hold, touch, smell, or imagine your product in their hands, but with good photographing skills, backdrops, and props, they have the ability to picture your product that much easier.

The other day, while perusing etsy, I stumbled on some of the most beautiful artistic work I have ever seen. The artist, Leigh Viner, a Colorado native and resident has a natural eye for emotion, rawness of humanity, and above all, talent in every sense of the word.

For those who may not know of Leigh’s works, having had the opportunity to gaze eerily over her works in the last week or so, I have come to appreciate her talent and I cannot wait to spread the word. Leigh’s natural intrinsic talent is something many of us dream to acquire, and although she admits to taking commercial art and drawing classes, her abilities are “mostly self-taught”.

Her greatest influence, the human body, the femme woman, is of course evident in many of her works, fine arts, and photographic depictions of moments in life. The fashion industry, design, make-up, and photography also streamline her works.

Beautiful, eye-opening, and intrinsically emotional, her works are to die for. I appreciate the opportunity today to feature her works, but also to expose her raw impressive talent to the rest of the world! I wish Leigh the very best in her career, I know you will go far, especially with your talent Leigh.

Blue for you

So I was thinking blue. Not feeling blue mind you- just got to thinking about the color, is all. Last night, I ordered some custom earrings of which my kind buddy who is both a jewelry supplier and jewelry maker . Lauri, over at Neatothings managed to find two gorgeous faceted blue Chalcedony beads for me, of which were then carefully wound and bound into an earring that resembled something of which I was fantasizing about. Thanks you and you know who you are! The listing itself was so funny even if I was feeling blue, you wouldn't have known different.

A quick conjure of a conversation was all it took for her to ask me if I had blue eyes, simply because of all of the earrings I have had her make me which of course were blue. And, yes ole blue eyes here, does have an infatuation for blue, but needless to say this all started way back when my sister got married, and she picked out a absolutely adorable blue bridesmaid dress, attached with simple blue earrings. At this point in time I was hooked on blue.
